Im a VIP member on piratebay so i get alot of seeders/leechers..i made a batch file so that when the downloaders open their file their browser opens up and visits my website (so they can check it out). is doing this illegal?
i would be uploading UN COPYRIGHTED files to piratebay NOT COPYRIGHT so no need to go over that.:)

It's basically called click jacking. I won't go over the details if it is illegal or not but I can definitely say that it isn't nice. Would you like someone to tamper with your computer from a remote location? But this is blackhat so it's up to you...
RW.

I set the script so that it closes it after 10 seconds so it won't spam their browser...can't i know if its legal to do or not?

If they're downloading your file, its your file. Read pirate bays rules and such. As long as you can't do anything else and it doesn't create a backdoor I don't see a problem with it. Maybe put an agreement when they open it so they know what's going on sort of how official programs open to their website. So TLDR;; It's legal as long as it's just a webpage and no virus' or malicious stuff.

I don't think it's illegal dude. I've seen lots of software over the years that do exactly the same thing when you install or uninstall them. It's either a welcome message or a "we're sorry to see you go" message, or some convincer to try keep you from uninstalling the product. The point being I highly doubt it's illegal.

What if it opens a PPC url shortening link THEN onto my site which gives a thankyou message? would THIS be illegal?

Can you lose your VIP status? I would seriously hate you if I downloaded that kind of sh*t on PB. :D

But no, it's not illegal. Bad reputation is the only downside I can think of.

If I get that right, it's not illegal.

I just hope that you can earn good money doing that, otherwise...

You do realize people will post comments saying what it's doing and then people will stop trusting your downloads.

But as for the question of whether or not it's illegal do you really think the government gives a sh*t about what happens on a torrent site? That's really the question you should be asking yourself.

Im talking about whether id get sued by linkbucks, adfly etc

In which country are you living?? If USA then forget about it.

lol remember this guy who did this but with google ads....must have been making a killing with this...u should try the same thing...but put it in such a way that u tell ur users that thats the way they support whatever it is ur giving them

I think it's alright, as long as you don't lead the users to a website with several malicious stuffs. Or tell the users that by visiting or clicking your website, it is one of the several means that they could support you for all the things you have shared with them.
