Is this Google Dance?

I have been out of game for a while and just started this new site last month.

I used an expired domain for this site. When it got indexed, it appeared at #51. Then I started making backlinks slowly and also used around 3 PBN links. On 20th January, it appeared at #34. Next day #35 and then it started going downhill. #52, #55, #57, #60 and now at #67.

- indexed and appeared at #51
- moved to #32 (after some basic backlinks + 3 pbn links)
-Moved to #48
- #53, #57, #60 and now at #67

It's been like 1 week and I can see a clear sign of this site going downhill.

Should I ditch the site or just wait for some more time?

Depends on many factors but do not worry, set some steady flow of links per day and you will be ok. All of the sites I launched recently did the same thing. Appear for example #40 after that they are gone for a while and appear again few positions higher

Yes, that's most likely it. My keywords also move around a lot. Also, if you look at the Algoroo graphs, you see major changes in Google algorithm. So give it some time.

You just need the links coming steadily. Two days ago I stopped building links on my site and it dropped from 12 to 19.

Don't ditch the site yet.

As above id give it time and slowly build your backlinks

From you graph it indexed well then dropped and since then it has increased slightly after every drop so hold tight and see what happens in the next 2-4 weeks, google is p**sing about every few days at the moment causing a lot of ups and downs.

Is your site hosted in the UK, its seems like the UK is one of the testing ground for new google algorithms (my opinion based on what ive seen on mozcast, algoroo etc etc)

Did you check the domain for spam links before purchasing? Did you rebuild pages that had backlinks so they dont show up as 404?

Was the site clean of any possible google penalties?

The site is hosted in US.
Domain is clean and yes, I rebuild the importantpages. I will just wait for few more weeks I think.

Wait a week or two, looks like a normal Google dance to me.

I've seen keywords go from #15, drop off the chart, and them settle back at #5-6.

This is so true. I have seen keyword moved from no place to 25th position and back to nowhere, and that same website moved to 3rd position.

My best take on this is, Don't try anything like building backlinks, just add more articles, great articles and use silo link building.

Add some content and wait for a week it should jump up, my site also went to nowhere and I almost ditched it, but after a week it just blasted to second page

A week isn't time enough to assess what's happening, you need to give it a couple more weeks ideally, but just keep slowly working on the site.

interested to learn to what happened to your site? if it was a google dance, how long did it take for you to get back to where you were? also, did you end up ranking higher?
