This is an open source platform. right? So if a hacker want to crack the code he can change this into something that steal other accounts details? because maybe there's a way to understand how the security layers of this platform work because it's an open source.?

You are correct. Anyone can launch their own version of an open source project.

If you can't read code, you'll have to trust someone that does. The idea is that only the legit people can put files on the official website. Don't download things from weird places and you are good.
