Is this doable for a first timer?

Hello BHW,

I have found a long tail keyword which gets around 6600 local searches a month, and 22200 global searches.
It is in a subject which i'm very knowledgable of, so I can write my own articles.

The keyword is 5 words long, exact match domain is still available in .net and .org, the .com domain is already registered but is nowhere to be found on google.

The competition is low according to google adwords ( dont know what that means, means that its easy to advertise, or easy to rank? )
Estimated CPC is $1.70.

I've never done any SEO before, i did make a lot of website, but never bothered on actually making them profitable or something.
More like a hobby. If I put quotes around the long tailed keyword I get around 133.000 results.

Can anyone tell me if it will be hard to rank on this, or easy?

EMDs are not that high valued as they used to be. I would say it's worth a shot. A long tail keyword that get that much searches with low competition are very rare. So it would definitely say go for it. Just make sure that you don't go BH all the way, what I am trying to say is that you should definitely try and make it look as natural as possible.

You need to do some reading on all of the aspects of SEO. It doesn't seem like you have a very good grasp of it right now. And also, find a tutorial that explains how to use Google's Keyword tool because it doesn't look like you understand how it works. Not trying to be harsh, but I'm just trying to help you for the future.

Low competition in adwords, means that there are few or non advertisers to bid on that keyword. Keep in mind that adwords is designed for people who want to pay for advertising on google network.

If you want to check the SEO competition, there are few tools that can help you on that - check traffic travis in the download section
Check the first 10-20 competitors and look for their: backlinks, authority, age, page rank, on-site like keyword optimization, meta tags, title, img alt tags.

You are better to start with a search on the forum and check out the threads on keyword research.

In the mid time, if you got some money to test out (the domain is like $10), grab it and see how it goes.
If it turns out you rank it and it gives you a nice profit - Kudos
If you rank it and it turns out to be a blackhole - congratulation you just had your first real experience. Take the goods parts, improve the bad parts and you should be able to make a good job with your next site/s.

Make sure those are exact searches, not broad searches.

Sounds doable to me. Get the .net EMD and start building it.
