Hi,
I've a pretty good looking keyword, but I want to be sure before I invest anything and build a site on it.
Do you think it's a low competition keyword and will be easy to rank?
1. TF18 CF34, 20 backlinks, 13 referring domains. Links look pretty shit, the site is an inner page of the following page: TF28 CF45, 121,492 backlink, 725 referring domains. Exact keyword in title, site is an ecommerce site with not a lot of written content.
2. TF36 CF37, 92 backlinks, 12 referring domains. Exact keyword in title, ecommerce site, not a lot of content. Root domain has 85695 backlinks 953 referring domains. TF52 CF46.
3. TF32 CF34, 3 backlinks, 2 referring domains. No exact match with keyword in the title, but it's a synonim term. Ecommerce site again, root domain seems spammed.
Edit: I have my answer, I left here the important part of the post.

Hard to say from all this.
However, considering that you are new and based solely on the metrics of the #1, you are most likely to fail with this keyword. Or at least not reaching #1 anytime soon. 725 ref domains, TF18 and huge optimized ecommerce site, I wouldn't touch it even today. #2 and #3 are a different animals, but it's impossible to say without knowing the keyword and closer analysis. Metrics are only as good.

Why don't you buy Ste Fishkin KW's, everyone is talking about his BST these days.

Thank you for your answer. This is what I'm afraid of too. The backlinks of the sites are not strong, but almost all of them looks like authority domains of old established business, #5 is Dick's Sporting Goods for example.

That top 3 doesn't look that easy. Feel free to send me the keyword via PM, I can take a look. However, I am not that good in the keyword research, but I can surely tell you whether to even bother with the keyword.

I'm no expert, but no that's not an easy keyword. It would take me a year just to appear on the first page.

Lots of ecommerce results. Are you trying to rank a product keyword with an ecommerce type site?

Are the top sites targeting the keyword in their anchor text?

To be frank, keyword competition check is not as easy as it may initially appear. Its only after you actually try ranking that you realize how difficult or easy it may be.

Unless you are going to build an ecommerce site, don't even waste your time, it's obvious google is favoring ecommerce pages, even week ones.

ALL top 10 sites are stores. Do do you think that google wants a info page in this serp? I think not, but i am not an expert..
