    I have a domain

    Lets say its called www.watches.com

I want to drive traffic to it via a pre sales splash page/ squeeze page. The reason I want to do this is so that the visitor can be sold on a specific idea about the site from a different perspective.

So I want to register www.greatwatch.com and say www.mywatches.com

Is this classed as some form of terrible redirect 401 nonsense or is this a reasonable idea and ok to do?

I was also thinking that if these secondary domains are secondary, they can be used as Howie says as "throwaways" and hence I can try some BH on some of these and thus not the main site?

Danger or fair and reasonable business leverage?

I would do some blackhat on your secondary domains. Focus is to boost backlinks. If the links stays - make a 301 redirect to your money making domain.

I thought G haaaaaaaaaaates 301... surely if there are good backlinks this might help traffic via lots of clicks on the page

    for example -

squeeze page one - contains 10 links to money page, squeeze page has say 1000 backlinks effectively then the money page will have indirectly good back link referall?

I was thinking more like in the 10,000-50,000 range to begin with.
