I had a handful of my comments on reddit posts sort of go invisible to everyone but me. No links, nothing like that. Just 2-3 good sentences of actual good comments on very vanilla topics. Not upvoted, nothing. Account itself has enough karma.

I had considered a filter but there really are no words in it that should hit anything. The odd thing is that so far on all but one of them, I can edit the comments even a tiny bit ( like removing a character) and save the edit and then they show up instantly (so far a couple of days since doing a few of them).

Is that some kind of bug or some sort of reddit thing? Would there be wording if it was autofiltered?

Reddit have several filters like this, if you're sure its not an automod filter from the subreddit, then its a sitewide reddit filter catching something either related to the content in the comment or something in the account.

reddit has a lot of bugs if it's not happening on a specific subreddit then maybe it might be some bug in some accounts

It doesn't sound like a Reddit bug.

No, there would be no wording or message to you if it was auto-filtered. The only way to know if your comment was filtered is to open your profile in incognito mode and check if the comment says "[Removed]". If this is the case, it could happen for several reasons. One reason is that the subreddit in question has automod filter rules based on a number of factors: post karma, comment karma, account age, keywords, username, etc. There's really no way for you to tell if the "account itself has enough karma," as automod can be configured to filter anyone below even 1 million karma.

You can debug what's going on by trying to comment on other subreddits, checking your profile in incognito mode, and if *all* of your comments on *all* subreddits are being filtered, then it's probably something at Reddit's sitewide level particular to your account, IP address, or browser footprint.

I went through all of my comments and roughly 1/3 had this issue. This is looking at it in incognito mode to evaluate it. It's not a particular subreddit as in each subreddit some are showing and some aren't. But they're not marked Removed. They're just not there at all like they didn't exist. I brought it up from in the account and from incognito and compared each comment to see what I was missing.

some of the comments i was able to edit and they showed, some didn't. i don't see a particular pattern so far looking at the subreddits but I need to try to edit all of those and see if it shows something. there is at least one subreddit where i have comments fine on one post, and then on another they're not showing.

i did have 2 total comments that were actually removed by the moderator and were marked as such (i was testing something out and must have triggered something). however, i was still able to add a new comment to that post and it worked fine. it is odd that this issue and the 2 removed comments happened somewhat close to each other but it's beyond those 2 subreddits anyways.

so overall it's look like 30% of my comments hit this issue and overall about 15% went into limbo. i can delete and recreate the comments so i don't seem to have an autofilter or such that is affecting me that I can see. i can create new comments fine on all the subreddits as well as random other ones without any issue.

It's an odd thing and all of those comments were done by hand (no links or anything) and were useful and were on the posts for at least a week or more.

Maybe I just hit a random bug because it otherwise seems normal. the ones that won't show i can delete the comment and add a new one and they've been there for 2-3 days no problem.
