Is this a new security measure?

I honestly cant remember if i've seen this before or not, but today an account that I looked at (not my account) had something pop up at the top of the screen that said "report & block? This account looks like other spam accounts we've seen. Do you want to report & block this activity?"

I checked this same account from other accounts I have & that message did not pop up. So i'm kind of wondering if IG is rolling out new security measures or if this has been around for awhile & I just cant remember.

I manage client business accounts & run those on very safe settings. My personal accounts are much more agressive but they are pretty aged & have never had any problems - but i like to stay ahead of the game when it comes to taking precautions w/ IG's ever changing security measures & algorithms.

I think its new i also saw it about 2 weeks back, i think its a new feature based on the idea where the community regulates and reports itself. youtube is also implementing a similar although more stringent concept.

community self-regulation means accounts are going to have to look more like it's being run by actual humans and not a bot. for now i believe the idea is to combat against 'free follower' type accounts. you know the ones that have no content and only follow-unfollow

We are today living in a world that is fully dominated by ads. You will therefore come across very many ads when browsing the web. You need to be careful because some of the tools are there to mine your personal information. On the other hand, It may be a genuine pop-up that is used on the website. But I don't think that it will be a security measure and be implemented as a popup.

NO this is a genuine thing from the instagram app. the bots flag the account and then next time someone visits the account the message pops up, if you click yes then the accounts gets suspended/banned

What type of accounts are you seeing this? Are they accounts with no posts or other obvious signs of spam?

saw it on an obvious spam account. the new security is aimed at them not normal accounts
