I just checked my newest links and I found some links which are absolutely weird

  • the sites look like this: madgestrassburg.xyz
  • the content is German but it is abolutely senseless. It looks like automatically translated. It is adult content about sex etc.
  • the anchors of the links going to my site are obscene and the link neighbour hood is very bad
  • the links go not to my site only but to hundred of sites. I found also some competitors
  • at the moment I find 10 sites but they all came in the last couple of days. It might become more

Can you please help me: What is this? Is this a negative SEO attack? If not what is the purpose of these sites?

Well, on paper - it sounds like an attack/spam. Are you in a fairly competitive industry?

yes, it is competitive. But this site madgestrassburg.xyz (and the others) also link to hundreds of other sites not just me.

I had the same thing happen to me, only it wasn't adult content, it was more like "buy fake [product]" or "cheap knockoff [product]" - and these products were totally unrelated to my niche.

All you can do is disavow using GWT.

It looks like some crappy PBN, some people use penalized PBNs to perform real looking SEO that in reality is neg SEO.

Yes. It is negative SEO. The most common type of negative SEO are link based.

around 80% of my competitors get the same links. So I guess it is one bastard competitor who does that on "the rest"

what should I do know? Should I disavvow those links? They do not show up in webmaster tools yet. But they are just a few days old so this might come later

Hi Aussie, i am getting the exact same thing as you with the .xyz and i have checked a few of my competitors and they have got them as well. I have around 15 of them and some have no follows on them and some are deleted. I am confused myself as to what this is. Same types of sites as the one you stated like this mathagovoni dot xyz.

Digging a bit deeper and i am noticing loads of sites have this in many different sections.
I see i have it on 2 sites in two different niches and competitors in each of these sections all have it as well.

That does not make any sense... I am not even located in UK. I just don't know what this crap is and which purpose it would have. But when I see that those shit-sites like www.madgestrassburg.xyz link to hundreds of sites I dont believe that it is a negative SEO attack against especially me, you or the competitors.

But the problem still remains, I get crap-links coming in. So should I disavow them?

Ye, disavow them. If you don't have an upgraded ahrefs or majestic account now is probably the time. You're gonna need to go through picking off the new links coming in.

Yeah, use Webmaster Tools to disavow. The links could be ruining your rankings

Yes this is negative SEO. that really sucks... I am sure you can inform google that these links are not related to you

hell yeah! just try increasing your quality back-links to cover that up!
