Is this a negative SEO attack?

Hello Everyone!
So I know random spam websites can link to my site any time, and I usually ignore them since Google is "smart" in detecting them, but today I woke up to Google Search Console having an extra 50 links from random websites that are mostly redirects, timeouts, or straight-up security risk warnings from Google. Here are a few examples:
- lybyzema.tattoo
- looplikehotelizefoemanship.com
- zanyzazi.garden
- rybojiho.garden
- barcarolleyoginsreaphook.com
And a lot more, I thought Google took care of such bs long ago. Should I disavow them? thanks!

Don't bother disavouring them. Google's pretty good at ignoring garbage links like these automatically. The disavow tool is really only for situations where you actually built spammy links yourself and need to clean up.

These random spam domains popping up is annoying but super common - they scrape and auto-link to tons of sites. Google sees this stuff all the time and filters it out. Disavowing won't hurt, but it's basically extra work for zero benefit.

Just keep an eye on your rankings and traffic. If nothing tanks, you're good. Google Search Console may show you all kinds of weird backlinks that have zero impact on your actual rankings.

Thank you so much for the advice! What bothered me is that they appeared in the search console Top linking sites section, I always saw them in tools like Ahrefs or Semrush.
 
if your site is not penalized because of them you can ignore them, many websites get such links and they're usually harmless

Ignore them Google already discounts random spam links like these, and disavowing is unnecessary unless you have a manual penalty or built bad links yourself.
 
Yeah, this still happens. Google usually ignores this kind of junk automatically, especially random redirects, dead domains, or obvious garbage like that. If you’re not seeing ranking drops or a manual action, I’d just monitor and move on. Disavow only really makes sense if it keeps growing at scale and you see actual negative impact. Otherwise you’re usually fixing a problem Google already filtered out.
 
These random spam links are normal, you can usually just leave them alone.
 
Now a days if your website is getting penalized by google, IMO it is not because of backlinks but because of how your website is not useful enough for the search according to google.

These days it seems google is more about negating the effects of links rather then punishing, as they are well aware of what negative SEO could become like if they made it too easy.

Your website may have been hit by spam backlinks from competitors. You should ask Google to disavow those spam links and allow some time for the issue to be resolved.
 
These are scraper sites that build out their pages by scraping ranking content, mushing it all together, and usually using their own network of powerful domains to get these scraper sites ranking for longtails. Then any traffic with SE referrers gets funnelled to a smartlink. You can see by performing a site: search for the domains you've mentioned, and then click on any of the results - you'll be redirected to a short url which hilariously doesn't even work.

Any site ranking for anything remotely competitive is gonna get these sort of links sooner or later, it's just part of the spam ecosystem ;)

You don’t need to disavow unless:
  • You see a manual action in Search Console
  • The links are clearly part of a negative SEO attack and growing fast
  • Your rankings drop suddenly at the same time

If they’re just random domains, redirects, or dead sites, it’s best to ignore them. Disavowing unnecessarily can sometimes do more harm than good.

Just keep an eye on your GSC, monitor link growth, and focus on building quality links. Google has gotten very good at filtering this kind of junk on its own.

If you notice that your site's performance is affected or you are losing sleep over these links, just disavow them.
 
Hi, you should generally ignore these links. Google's systems are highly effective at algorithmically discounting low-quality, spammy, or irrelevant links without manual intervention.
 
If your site hasn't dropped in ranking, I'd avoid touching the disavow tool.
