Today, I had looked-up for an item on Amazon and wanted to checkout more about it's specs. When i opened up one of my recent apps, an ad popped up for the exact same product i had skimmed on. Is this a coincidence or has this happened to you?

(I was using chrome, so it seemed kind of obvious for G to make use of my search terms to display such relevant ads)

Yes, definitely it is google game. They will watch you whenever you are using their platform.

Not a coincidence for sure. It's enough, if you talk about something in the hearing distance of your smart device, you don't have to search or type anything. I'm not kidding.

that's scary.

You should avoid using google chrome, use chromium or firefox instead.

Not just google, but many others.
There are many companies like Lotame, TTD that allow to target users by IP.

Not only by ip, these kind of tracking services seller also use fingerprinting technologies in order to track user surfing on multiple websites[1].

That’s right, ad targeting comes on multiple levels. You can’t pay $1-$30 per click without proper targeting or expect any result without it.

Yup, I'm working in a data company. We scrap data for our clients, we often use selenium and chromedriver. Few month ago I was working on a fingerprint spoofing project in order to decrease our captcha challenge to solve. This fingerprint spoofing task is very hard, you have to reverse engine big company solution like distil network and shield square :)

it happened with me too on Instagram really.. and also I unchecked the show targeting ad while making gmail account..

Oh, you encounter this for the first time? It happens to me on a daily basis.

One time I searched for something directly in google and it showed related products to my colleague on the same network. Imagine.

I guess these suggestions are more prominent in android devices.

It happens to me all the time. How companies track you on daily basis is so scary... Type in google "Coffee machine" and in a few hours you'll see Coffee machine ads everywhere

i knew google spy on you but i underestimates the level of layers they take to establish this. this explains why sometimes when I am browsing shutter shock for good blog featured images as soon as i visit a site that has AdSense all the images i viewed on shutter stock will be displayed on the sites ads.

We're caged under their monopoly:confused:

Google is trying to show you targeted ads, so they collect as much info on your interests as they can
Everything you print or say is saved, be sure

google build search algorithm like that, they will show ads in what you are looking for.
