Searches: 5,400
CPC: $2.75
Competition: 9 Pages according to LongTailPro?
Demand: High
There is also a varient with 800 searches and simular stats. It is in a fashion nitche.

If it isn't a good keyword, what makes a good keyword?

Thank you!

What does the KC value show in LongTailPro? What kind of sites are ranked for the keyword when you do a manual check?

Even if it's a good keyword, you'll need many more.

Let's figure you rank number one for the keyword in Google. You'll statistically get about 33% of all clicks for that keyword. So 33% of 5,400 searches/month = 1782 clicks/month. Which is only about 60 visits per day to your site. To make any worthwhile money you need thousands or tens of thousands of visitors per day. Rank for 100 keywords like that one, and you'll be set. (This is assuming your rpm is lower with less targeted traffic, if you have crazy high conversions you'll need less traffic.)

Note I don't have any actual experience with SEO, I'm still learning myself, but I've been doing some math to figure out what I need to accomplish keyword wise to reach my monthly target.

EDIT: I'm in FL too. It's starting to get hot!

OMG I was just walking in downtown Celebration and it started to pour lol I'm hoping the rain cools us down.

I never thought of it from a mathematical standpoint. I don't have the Platinum, I'm using the trial version so I don't have the KC value calculator.

Check the top domains manually using seomoz and majesticseo free accounts. If I remember right all LongTailPro does is calculate based on seomoz metrics and keyword occurrence in the title and onpage.

I'm southwest in Charlotte county. Haven't had much rain here, it would definitely be welcome.
