Is there something wrong with this Keyword density setup?

Home page competes for keyword 1 | keyword 2 | keyword 3 and each has a density of 2%
  • Page 1 is competes for keyword 1
  • page 2 competes for keyword 2
  • page 3 for kw 3

My home page currently only ranking the homepage for kw 2 and 3. No other page is ranking but i would like it to because pages 1,2 and 3 are the money pages where i want the visitors to click the affiliated links. I figured that if the visitors skipped the homepage and straight to the pages, it would reduce the chances of bounce. Also, kw 1 is ranking my private policy page every other day, other days it doesn't at all. Any ideas on this?

So, your thoughts are that an algorithm would count up the number of times a phrase is on a page and calculate that your page should rank based on the number of times a phrase is located on the page? Do I have your logic right?

Lol! The only reason I can think of is that you're pointing all your backlinks to the homepage?
 
Keyword density? What is this, 2008? Step up your game.
 
If you want each page to rank for their target keyword, stop trying to rank your homepage for the same keywords and build more backlinks to those pages. Your privacy policy page ranks for your keyword sometimes because your site is new and your URLs are dancing in the SERPs.

Thanks haha that's what I get for following an old tutorial. I see now why it's so hard for noobs to step inside the IM ring without proper guidance since IM moves so fast. One could be working and learning on some techniques for ages without realizing that it was so 5 years ago lol
 
First of all don't bother your self with keyword density and this myths, write your content in a natural way and the keywords density will become natural.

If I got you correctly, you have a problem with landing page, you are ranking with a wrong page, isn't that ?

If so, build some backlinks to the correct landing page, some of them with the targeted anchor text, as well do some internal links (if you have enough pages at your website).

Thats true I can never write more precisely when having to worry about keyword density all the time.

I write all of my content naturally, and when I go to check my keyword density after writing it, I find that it's usually 1% or 2%, and this is with me just focusing on creating the content.
 
Is there any problem with writing content naturally, but just as a safety measure checking KW Density anyway? And if it's above x% consider dropping it?

Or are some of you saying that Google doesn't even think about KW Density now, regardless of how high it is?
