In my opinion, any Search Engine Optimization attempt is blackhat. If you claim that you are "whitehat" then you are a liar because using blog/forum comments, video marketing, or anything else to boost your website's search ranking is still a manipulation of Google's ranking algorithm to your benefit.

You're right there is a thin line between whitehat seo and blackhat seo.
But you have to remember there's a difference between doing no seo work and whitehat seo work.

Whitehat isn't about doing 'nothing' it just means you're not using software like XRumer, stealing other peoples content or anything similar.

You can still do article marketing, video marketing, etc, there's nothing that violates any TOS with that.
I know guys who write really informative and high quality articles about their products that are actually useful in terms of people making a correct decision about their services.

I disagree completely with your rational. Blackhat was used originally in reference to hacker activities that were often blatantly illegal. Blackhat SEO is not illegal, just against the rules of a monopoly named Google that sets its own rules in accordance to its own needs.

Who gives a shit if an SEO technique is whitehat or blackhat, that's totally irrelevant. Only three issues are actually germane to this conversation:

1. Is the technique illegal? 99% are not!
2. Is the technique effective?
3. Did the technique result in your site getting de-indexed?

There is no morality within corporate America and I remind you of how well Google adhered to Chinese censorship in years past. Do no harm my ass!

Wake up people, the corporations are setting the rules and taking your money! Time to stick it to the man! And if SEO bothers you so much why the hell are you at BHW in the first place, slumming with the sinners? Let's try this; if your conscience is really bothering you why do we just call it proactive SEO!

Actually that is a basis amongst so many workers in this industry. When a company hires a person to do SEO, a key trait that may sway the company's opinion on SEO is the fact that one person claims to be "White Hat."

Also, when Google first created their search algorithm, I don't think that they intended for it to be manipulated to gain more exposure. They are meaning to compile the internet's most relevant data based on a specifically entered keyword. That said, sites that are filled with "unique" garbage can rank just as high as sites with relevant, quality content.
 
The hat I wear is....."Do wtf I need to do to get to no.1" hat.

That's what everyone should be wearing.

Google's point of view is that any activity meant to skew rankings in your favour is a no-no. That would include stuff like manually building backlinks and all the other shit so-called whitehatters swear by.

So all whitehatters, get off your high horses and learn the fucking rules. You're just as blackhat as the self-admitted blackhatters.

Yes your statement right but there is only one difference between spamming whitehat sites and blackhat sites.

I tell this to people all the time. What google really wants you to do is sit back and let it happen "naturally." White hat SEO is an oxymoron.

Exactly. Therefore, any claim that a person is a "Whitehat SEO Expert" is invalid.
 
Whitehat SEO is actually possible, but being WhiteHat is pretty difficult.

Basically you need to build "amazing" websites and let people link to you naturally. After you get natural links you need to make sure your content is spot on.
 
I believe it is 100% whitehat when you write all original articles with on-page optimization and let the content naturally rank in the search engines without any outside influence on your part.

So the answer is no, because this never happens from the little guy to major corporations we all do some form of manual manipulation.
 
There is some white hat. You know who white hat is, it's the ones that had reputations before links were the main factor in rankings. Now no one wants to link to anyone.
These people with reputations are considered authorities and still get people linking to them like crazy.
 
If you offer a top quality service, produce niche specific articles that are expertly written or sell quality products at competitive prices. then you can increase your brand on social networking sites.

All it takes is 1 piece of quality content and 1 tweet to twitter.

For example: a brand new website has a video of katy perry with chocalate sauce all over her naked body and cheryl cole licking it off of her nipples.
I can assure you 1 tweet will give that website 1000's of links.
 
Any solicitation for links of any kind is against Google's guidelines, thus making it Black Hat. This means you can't even reach out to a blogger and ask for a link.

To be truly white hat you have to create amazing content and basically wait for people to link to you.

Makes no sense since people can't link to your content if they don't know it exists! I guess you can share it on social sites !?!?!

I think 90% of those who call themselfes and think they are whitehatters are actually BHers, but there are 100% pure WHers, they:
1. Do guest posts
2. Create link baits
3. Have great content people link to
4. etc.
