Is there any way to beat Amazon ?

My main keywords was at #1 spot, an amazon product reviews page was at #2. However, yesterday, after recent google update, that amazon page jumped ahead mine. I didnt update my site for 2 years, while that amazon page is very infomative.

I guest building backlinks is only way. But i dont know how to build links safely and effectively.
