I think Google has a major bug at least since May 2019 and they're unable to fix it so far.
The results are drawing more and more complaints.
Only big brands seem to develop trust. As a result only major players reach page 1 and it's become a Quora/Pinterest/bigbrand paradise.
Searching for small niche topics, especially technical things, has become a nightmare.
I think they're trying to fix this but it's not going quite as expected.

there is something definitely going on, indexing has been disabled in the search console, on top of that google has massive problems indexing new post since January, you can forget about indexing backlinks
On top of that, the search results are all over the place, I have a feeling that google has no idea what it is doing and is constantly adding random factors to the algorithm, then resetting then adding new shit and this is why we are in a constant updating states

No one's really know what's going some site gets massive drop and other gets a good push

This is true.....after the may update i see search results where first 1-5 positions in the serps is from only one big authority website......how this can be useful for the user?

It can be useful when the user is looking for big brands....like looking to buy something.
But when you're searching for informational stuff, not big brands, it gets nasty. Try searching for specific stuff like a specific dentist tool or a specific running shoe technology, all you get is big brands trying to sell you stuff and not really content about the tech.

We have a big it&c website here in RO that is copying Amazon....after the may update they floaded the organic search results with auto generated pages.....like if you search for "communist whore" they pop-up in the first organic results with a page like this: "Are you searching for communist whore?"

Hey bro, Google announced on Wednesday that indexing would be off for review in the next couple of weeks. What you are seeing may be the effect of indexing since your pages were ranking very well. You need not worry. The only people who should be worried when Google resumes are those who used bad blackhat methods, most of us

I'm glad someone else has noticed this. I feel myself dumbing down my searches constantly because I expect irrelevant, extremely broad results from major sites that don't really answer the question. Half the time I actually have to search for "My query + reddit" because I already know Google is going to fail on the query alone.
It's bizarre that a multi-billion dollar corporation like Google offered a better service in 2015 than in 2020.

I find myself constantly using quotes, + and - and stuff like that to find anything useful in Google right now.

The point is for small, non-brand sites, this is 100% the case.
Big brands oscillate up and down, but for them a 20% variation means nothing.
Small sites though fluctuate 90% on some updates. It's crazy.
