Is there a way to remove "About the author section" under wordpress posts?

Yes, but it' totally dependant of your theme. Look in the theme/appearance settings.

You can also add a 'display:none' property on the section in CSS. That is the easiest solution without the need to manually find and edit the backend codes.

I've already done that, but the author bio under every post is still there

Most themes would let you disable this in the settings, most likely under "Blog".
