Hi BHW,

I have been doing some SEO research and I noticed people are saying get and use good keywords. I have created a list of keywords but I'm wondering if there's a such thing as over doing it. Can you have too many keywords? What's a good amount? Is more better? Thanks in advance.

All depends on Niche, no there is nothing like too many keywords, you can use as much as you want until it`s relevant to your Niche.

But avoid keyword spamming( like adding 1000 keywords in meta keyword tag, or in wordpress tags)

The spamming is what I was worried about the most. I guess I should of asked to what point does it not look natural. Thank you for explaining.

It's all about how much content you are able to write/buy.

For example, if you have 1000 keywords with decent searches for a niche and can write/purchase 1000 articles (one for each keyword), than that's great! You can build an authority site!

I actually think the links are more important than the onpage. Having lots of keywords in your anchor text will defend you from over optimization penalties.

So, not over-doing onpage, and having lots of anchors are both good things, then you just have to think about link diversity and velocity.

What do you mean when you say "anchor?" Sorry for such a noob question but this is all kinda new to me.

As long as you are only targeting a couple of keyword per page you should be fine. So as long as you have 1,000 different pages, targeting a couple of words each you are ok.

You should also make sure that all your pages and keyword are related to the main subject of your website.

no there is no such thing. if you can optimize your site with the help of a lot of keywords then its good to be protected from any Google update.
you shouldn't focus on one keyword only.
