The title says it all. Is there a WP plug-in that works, or is silo building to optimize a website just a hoax?

I dont know of any good plugins.

You can pay someone to remove all the extra stuff from the theme code. That's what I do.

Can you clarify what you mean by silo building?

Ask Amazon.com if silo setups are a hoax. A Silo is definitely the way to go. Build your content around keywords with nice internal linking. As far as a WordPress plugin I haven't found anything that works the way I want it to. I'm looking into just developing my own CMS geared toward silo sites. WordPress can be configured for SEO pretty well but it's not great for it straight out of the box. Not like it's touted to be.

One of these days I'll get around to finishing my WP silo plugin! WP is not difficult to structure into a silo if you're starting a website from the beginning. It's the preventing of links inside post content to other post content that can be tricky.

It seems like this could be easily accomplished with a simple mod_rewrite rule in your .htaccess file.
