Is there a science to Digg??

I have been asking myself this for about 2-3 hours now.
Is there some type of special formula to obtain the first page?
Well not "special" in a way just a step by step formula, you know
something similar to a step by step formula that you would use
for...SEO

I notice that a lot of people sell services on DP claiming that they can
get you on the first page of digg in a matter of hours, for the average
price of around $70.00 So if their doing that there must be some
type of formula to follow correct? If not please correct me if I'm wrong

Digg traffic doesn't convert very well, from my experience.

You could go for it but I believe your time and money is better spent elsewhere.

Unless you just want backlinks and stuff.

Well thats the plan..get some good back links to blog with adsense.

Yeap, I used to drive traffic from Digg to my video site with adsense.

They hardly click on the ads.

It was easy to get first page listing on their video section last year which could ultimately lead to front page.

Now it is harder.

I bet the method used in DP is to use a network of people/proxy to digg your page.

If they could actually do that, then they probably figured out the time taken for each digg and make it natural towards digg algorithm.

Your content need to be worthy of a front page because after a while the real diggers will take over and push your page to the front...

At least that is the method I know that works last year

yes there is a science to digg... honestly. dont use it unless you have 50+ piqqus credits to throw at it. you will get good traffic on this condition: you make the front page. otherwise you are lucky to clear 400 clicks.... that assumes you have good content.

there are way better bookmark sites out there. digg spent its money making their site horribly draining on evfen high end machines and operates slow. its the yahoo of social book marking sites.... you want to be google. no yahoo.

if i wanted to i could make thousands of hits in a day on digg. would it be worth my time ? hell no, theres better resources out there. try a few out, review them, rate them. hell if you want to do a great experiment. post the same link to 100 social bookmarking sites. rate them on these conditions:

1) ease of use/submission
2) clicks
3) Do follow / no follow
4) conversions
5) speed of site. (digg gets -eleventy billion on this)

simple is definitely better in the social bookmarking world.

I've heard nightmare stories about getting on the first page of Digg and getting some many hits you crash your hosting server. So if you are going to do it, make sure you have caching in place, etc., to reduce the load on your server.
