Is their any web directory worth it effort this days .

Hi all , I know this guy who have web forum with very great contents and many volunteers writers , that doesn't rank well on google , and it indexing are very bad ( if i write threads their could take two day to index ) .
since this guy knows nothing about SEO and I don't wont to give him wrong advice , I thought adding his web forum to some old web directorates may boost his ranking little bit . BTW that guy mostly didn't create any links to his forum he just invite few people (were together on the older forum) and start writing .

Adding to the free ones can't hurt and is relatively quick & easy. As for the paid ones, I'll let more experienced users comment.
