I have pages that was removed or did not appear on the site function but when I type it manually for my keywords without using the site function. It appears on google. What could this mean?

Is the site function not a good indicator on how many pages you have indexed on google? Thanks!

I tried this out on one of my own sites right now and the site function displays 543 results. The Index Status displays 531 (although I've added more pages since it was last updated), so it's fairly accurate for me.

However, what's interesting is that when I go deeper into the search results for the site operator, it'll only display 177 pages total. It does this for other sites as well, although I'm unsure why.

As long as the pages are really ranking, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I honestly dont know the answer to your question but have seen similar.

I checked a site from a competitor using the site: function with that showed no results but if i search for the web domain i get 800+ results.

Semrush shows 700+ keywords but 0 traffic (expected) since 2012

I checked when google last crawled this site and it just shows -- rather than a date (free guesstimator)

I then checked to see if the site was penalized or sandboxed and result was probably, i checked penguin penalty ( or some such) and the graph showed the site had been growing but started to loose traffic just before penguin was released after which it never recovered.

What i personally think is weird (more experienced people may shed some light on this) is that the site is ranked #1 for a certain keyword compared to other sites who are specialists for this keyword (its an occupation, which this guy isnt but has one reference to it ) and are not penalized by google, there are no backlinks or anchor text for this keyword and no pbn yet the site still ranks for alot of keywords yet not included on the site: function, the site is over 10 years old but its so basic and has very little content yet is able to rank.

Go figure

I am not so sure about my answer. But I have tried with some websites. If we use about 10 websites around 8 will get a positive result... while others get negative result..

I am not sure but I can say site function is the most needed one.

Did you aware of page remove function ? There is a key to create or remove pages. Find out the page removal code & apply. Hope it helps.

Best Wishes - BB.
