Was wondering if the Movibot php script for movies is illegal? Will the feds raid my friends house? My friend wants to know but he said he will use a offshore/bulletproof host and a .sw domain.

Any tips my friend should know?

Anyone? The script doesn’t use a database and no movies are actually hosted on the server it’s justmovies that get pulled from APIs and embaded on the site.

It does not matter what script you are using. It is rather about what you are posting on your site. I am no expert on this but if you are not hosting the videos by yourself, you are probably fine. Just make sure to include DMCA info clearly in the page so that people can request videos to be taken down rather than going to your hosting/domain provider.

Whats the point in including DMCA info if my friend has no control over the stuff on the site? It gets pulled from other sites from a API and displays on his my friend can’t delete anything

Well, it's not about control, there is something called "contributory copyright infringement" if you knowingly link to (includes embedding) copyrighted material, see http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/linking-copyrighted-materials

So, yes, you'd need DMCA info and even if you'd take down stuff on request, you aren't 100% safe since "knowingly" could be interpreted as "even for the average layman it's obvious that the material is copyrighted". Especially on one of those movibot sites it's more than obvious, the whole site is based on copyright violations, so chances this may become ugly are high. The pirate bay guys also thought they'd be bulletproof...they were not.

Thanks for the answer I will tell him not to do it also he wants to start a forum like the old LeakForums or like ScriptzNull will that be ok? The users on the forum will share whatever it is with a download link no downloads will be hosted on the server and the user is the one providing the link and info and I will tell him to include DMCA info so if someone contacts him he can remove whatever post it is. Will this be ok? Can their be serious legal consequences?

EDIT: Now he wants to know if he does start a forum like that can he use a .com, .net, or .xyz domain?

It all depends under which jurisdiction you fall.In germany as example its enough to place links to be responsible for it
