I am wondering whether the Google Dance is still an issue after the Caffeine update. One of my sites completely lost all rankings for all keywords including its brand name. I have read this happens because the Google Dance. The site has about 8 months old but I just started promoting 2 months ago with a consistent link building of 10 links per day from mostly d0 follow comments. The think about this, is the site got from 0 to nearly 70 unique visitors per day from the big G mostly from long tail keywords until I noticed yesterday it lost all its traffic and rankings. It is still indexed, but it does not appear by searching its brand name which is not even competitive nor any long tail keyword.

I am thinking it will come to normal within a week if this the G Dance. However, I would like to read you comments about this.

There are basically two "Google dances" that people talk about.

Back in the old days, people would call the Google dance the jumping around in the serps after a major update. Updates happened every few weeks / months and inbetween, rankings were fairly static.

Now days people seem to call the Google dance the jumping around in the serps after you release a new site or after you do a batch of link generation - the bumping around from high to low to high again before your placements stabilize.

We don't really seem to have major updates like we used to, but instead this constantly iterative updating process where all sites are being updated all the time.

Just keep building links, and in the mean time build more sites and build links to those sites. Chances are your rankings will come back.

Caffeine has hammered longtail results. Basically high pr and authority sites are getting your searches now.

housemusic, are you trying to be funny or what? please post something relevant to the question.

I think you did not understand anything or you did not read what I wrote. I am telling that after a good month of ranking improvement all suddenly disappear. Apparently because the site is new and its sudden popularity increase.
