With the recent developments of AI, how close do you guys think we are to build apps like Uber,Doordash etc. without manually programming anything and just telling to AI to do it? I see many websites promising this but I don't think that the current tech is advanced to build complex apps yet.
What are your thoughts on this?

It's been coming for last 5 years, it has not yet. That's when singularly with happen and ai will take over???
 
most code that comes out is fine for a personal project but if you want to build a billon dollar app like uber, door dash ect there is a lot more to go into it.
 
What is the difference between outsourcing coding to a 3rd world country and coding with AI?
This is just automation of what was done manually before.
Code won't promote itself, deal with issues, find investors and scale your project.
 
You can't program an app like door dash via ai! lol you might be able to make a small section of the homepage the same or different, but you couldn't build an underlying business with full database integration like they have with an ai prompt on Monday. and finished product making money by tuesday. lol

Programmers are more in demand now, as more middle class people are spending their disposable income on programming projects, cause they think like you, so they are hiring good programmers to fix their mistakes, and their lack of experience when it comes to really building software.
 
Coding’s not dead it’s just evolving. AI can build the basics, but full apps like Uber still need human brains to glue it all together. We’re close, but not “click and done” close yet.
 
I think it's will still require a little human intervention. Especially when it comes to security. If Uber or any major tech companies have any little security breach it may cost that company millions of dollars to fix it
 
Yup it is over. Pack it up and embrace your ai overlords.
 
yeah you arent building the next uber with a single prompt anytime soon. but honestly for most of us you dont even need to. if you just want to spin up a quick mvp, a directory, or some basic tool to test a niche and run traffic, things like bolt or cursor are already good enough to do that in an afternoon. the real bottleneck is when you actually get users and have to deal with api costs, database scaling, and security. for quick money making setups the tech is kinda here already, but for enterprise stuff we are still years away...

You are completely right. Creating the code with AI can be easy but to maintain an app that is used by many people can be really difficult. One problem would be that the app works for all users. Another big problem would be that the app can be hacked and needs security. With a lot of money comes a lot of responsibility.
