My priority is a fast performing computer that runs some games (I don't mind running with low graphics quality)

I'd spend a little extra on more RAM, but the rest of the specs is pretty good.

• 8GB -> 16gb would be better since we are in 2020 and more and more apps use a lot of ram
• 512GB SSD + 32GB Optane M.2 -> Should be good as far as you are not doing video editing or anything with a lot of data
• 15,6" -> Just perfect size in my opinion
• NVIDIA MX230 -> A lot better than integrated graphics and you will be able to play some games but don't expect amazing performance

For a similar price in my country, there's the Acer Nitro 5

• i7- 9750H
• 16GB
• 1TB + 128GB SSD
• GTX 1650 (4GB)

Would that be a better option?

Nitro 5 looks much better, IMO

Yes, this one is WAY faster. i7 U = mobile, energy saving processor, i7 H = mobile, powerful processor

Same for the NVIDIA GPU. MX series focusses on low energy consumption, GTX focusses on performance.

Instead of 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD I would try to get one with 512GB SSD though. Apart from that it's very good. How much are you looking to spend?

I think Acer Nitro 5 will be the best choice for gaming and fast performance.
• i7- 9750H • 16GB • 1TB + 128GB SSD • GTX 1650 (4GB)

Acer Nitro 5 has a newer generation processor,
RAM is on the higher end,
HDD is good and
Compared to NVIDIA MX230, this GTX 1650 is the latest tech and has a faster bit rate.

Personally I would say, when it comes to games, there is no fun in compromising over quality. Buy the best if the pocket allows.
