Is such a thing even possible?

There's a guy I know that sells nokia phones from China on eBay.

he claims they're 100% authentic and original and that he hadn't received customer complaints yet. It is in the retail packaging in everything.

Now let me get this straight, aren't ALL branded products from China fake? How are these Nokia phones authentic?
Is there a chance that there are actual legit suppliers in China?

Yes it is possible . I do the same !
Once you have the right contacts in China , you basically get whatever real is made in China !
How does he make money ? he buys factory price , he saves on the warranty and some other things ....

how do we know they're authentic and not AAA replicas?
i thought these manufacturers were owned and under contract by their companies and not allowed to distribute?

i don't really understand the process so feel free to leave input

it is possible, but as a customer i wouldn't trust the buyer much if i heard he was buying wholesale from China.

Most of those factories are under contract . YES
What happen is , the original blueprint will get sold to other factories and then the fun begins , one sell it to another , and it keeps on going around like that .
Authentic are Authentic and no one can make authentic besides the hired manufacture .
Now , other factories can make ''authentic'' products but without valid serial numbers , and those are know as AAA replicas .
Also , There is a quality test process that goes on the factory , so let's say Adidas , will make 1000 pairs of shoes today , only 800 will go through the quality test .
Now Adidas , will have a choice with the remaining 200 pairs , either spend money and destroy them , or sell them at a fraction of the cost price to the manufacture , well , they use the 2nd option !
Same goes for electronics , and big brand are too sensible about details , so let's say the N is Nokia is suppose to be 5 mm long +-1mm , if it comes out as 7mm the product won;t go through even if the electronic part is working perfectly ! That will be sold on Ebay as Authentic with a valid serial number
Hope that explains some , There is more to the replica and authentic market in china then this , but I think it is enough for now

I would say nokia are one of the companies more likely to deal with a smaller trader than people like apple for example because their business is going down the tubes so its definitely possible. I would still be very very dubious though.

First of all, am not a Chinese so am not defending them.

Here is what really happens in China market.

You and i know China has the capability to produce original products/services, that is real.
They have the population, resources and what not.

Majority of those fake items you see where on request from their clients usually for less amount.

China is currently buying up lots and lots of big companies, expanding into virtually all countries of the world and their country is even the production ground for several big international and first world countries.

Why? Because it's far cheap to produce in China (Quality) and transport to any country in the world.

Giant laptop companies, mobile phones and lots and lots of big companies give Chinese franchise to produce their products in their country. When they are producing for country like U.S, Britain, Canada e.t.c they do high quality because they can pay and when they are producing for Africa, Asia they do less quality which less cost depending on the request.

Nokia has an original office in China, producing unchanged Nokia Phone, that am sure of.

I purchased some fake Nikes from China on Ebay they were really cheap i thought of buying them and then reselling them but figured since I was in the Us it wouldnt be a good idea ... So i definatly think it is possible

you find out new things everyday anything is almost possible

Just make sure your buyers don't notice :>
