Is submitting to web directories ok for SEO?

Im submitting my site to quality, human reviewed web directories to help with backlink purposes and SEO. Is this an acceptable SEO building practise, and are web directories normally held in good repute so there will be no repurcussions from me doing this? I will only be submitting to high PR web directories and those that show quality.

Link directories aren't what they once were in terms of linkjuice. That being said, it will not hurt you but you probably won't see a whole lot in terms of results.

Absolutely!

Just be sure and keep yourself in good standing with them by only sending them content that you want them to review and you are happy being held accountable for, as they will do the review and will bust you if something is underhanded.

As I am totally whitehat on my front-end business, I deal with directories all the time and hardly ever have any issue with them.

I highly recommend using them.

Directory submission is good method of search engine optimization which diverts more traffic to your website and builds your link popularity which will help your website to get higher page rank in the search engines.

it really works.. u will get some linkjuice if that web directory has good rep in googles eye... better to use some automated software than wasting time in manual work...

don't over do it. but some high PR directory links are still helpful. Remember its a part of SEO. So you can do it.

Worth it if you can find some good high pr directories.

Using a few high pr dirs myself with good results.

Just register for the top 50 directories. After that it may be a waste.
