If anything, get it for the trust factor. You may stand out among your competitors.

I doubt if you would get the SSL for yourself because of the niche, but yeah it is totally worth it, when it comes to purchasing etc. It builds good trust to say the least.

Do you sell anything from this site?

If yes, then getting SSL shows trust, which is great in the eyes of the buyers.

I find mine break when they want. Break as in warning colors in left of address bar. Same happens on G,FB...
Just make a green padlock favicon.

If you plan on selling anything, I would recommend SSL. If you are just promoting something, then it is not needed.

No I'm not selling anything I am linking to my affiliate program where I will get paid per Install. The only problem I can think of is if the SSL expires you get the horrible warning message that will scare visitors away

Here is why I use SSL and the advantages is gives me

    A. Really makes customers feel the legitimacy of your company and helps conversion a lot. (Gains trust)
    B. Since I run eCommerce websites it is really nice when accepting credit cards.

I have decided on getting comodo SSL for $9. What do you need to do to actually get one. As its meant to prove your legitimacy I guess you need to provide an prove some details
