Hey guys
Trying to run a Soundcloud artist, later multiple, I just never did this and I could not get correct information from searches.
So Is SoundCloud pay-per-play when a guest user( random from a country ) playing the music? or it should be a registered user?

Another question I monetized a single track and it's under review, when the track is reviewed will I be able to enable Ads for the track?
And after that should every track passes this monetization review process?

Thanks in advance

Here's what I found out about Soundcloud:

  • SoundCloud isn't pay-per-play: So those random listens from people around the world (which is awesome!) don't directly put money in your pocket. That's different from some other platforms.
  • Monetization Options: The cool thing is, Soundcloud offers a couple of ways to make money: subscriptions (like with SoundCloud Go+) and ads that play before free listens.
  • Guest Users & Monetization: Those random listeners, even though they don't directly contribute, can still be super valuable! They might check out your music and become paying fans later, either through subscriptions or ads.
About your monetized track being reviewed, that's totally normal. They just want to make sure everything lines up with their guidelines. Once it's approved, you should be able to turn on ads for that specific track in the settings. And yes, each track you want to monetize needs to go through that separate review process.

Honestly, I was in the same boat when I first started out. It's a lot to learn! But hey, the good news is that even if random plays don't bring in direct cash, they can still help build your audience. Here are some thoughts:

  • Promote Your Music: Maybe we can brainstorm some ways to get your music out there on social media and other platforms. The more people hear it, the more potential paying listeners you might have!
  • SoundCloud Premier: Have you checked out SoundCloud Premier? It's a subscription thing where fans can get exclusive access to some of your tracks.
This is all pretty new for me too, so let's learn this stuff together!

Looking forward to hearing more of your music, keep creating!

So even if an artist gets tens of thousands of streams, he doesn't get paid if the streams come from unregistered guest accounts ? what about normal free accounts ?

Hello, I have a catalog of 50 professional songs ready for commercial use. I prefer to sell them all so that I can develop my home studio.
