I found some issues in PHPbb like indexing. Is migrating to another software like SMF a better option now? How to migrate and what I need to be careful about while migrating?

i think, the biggest difference is in the customaization system.

1.SMF2.1 still uses mod system.
2.phpBB3.1 has a extension system

I Could say phpbb3 is better , but both are Open Source , so the fact of “security” it’s not really good here. The good news is that you can build a powerful tool for the CMS.

I’m very inside this works. I have made several forums in my life. Worked with xenForo, phpBB3, SMF , MyBB , vBulletin and IPBoard

If you need help, just let me know. I’be glad to help.

I personally considar phpBB to be very user-friendly and easy to use.

SMF is good for indexing but it's so outdated. Take a look at Nairaland, the biggest SMF forum in Africa.

I love the software that Fiverr is using for their forum. I forgot the name.

That's Invision Community, which could also be called a pretty outdated script as it came out in 2002 - old enough to smoke, marry, and drink in the US ;)
