Is smart links dumb to use for monetization?

Hey so I've considered monetizing traffic using smart links since I'm not too sure what offers they'll be most interested in and it might be better than to do a lot of content locking.

But is it a decent option? I've considered doing link shortening as well so I can get paid per click. But I'm not too sure.
