Long story short, I want to build a dropshipping store fast on shopify so I've checked many themes.
I've ended up to Debutify and Turbo from Out of the Sandbox.

Turbo is considered the fastest.(from what I've read)
Debutify is hands down the most beautiful theme I've ever seen on Shopify.

Now just out of curiosity I checked both on GTmetrix and Google PageSpeed.
The results were shocking. I checked the Demos.
Keep in mind Debutify's Demo is hosted on Shopify and Turbo's Demo is hosted By Amazon.

Google PageSpeed
Debutify scored 24 on Mobile and 69 for Desktop.
Turbo scored 51 on Mobile and 93 on Desktop.

GTmetrix
Debutify scored B and 85% Performance.
Turbo scored A and 94% Performance.

Is Shopify that slow?
Demos don't have apps to slow down the site and Shopify uses CDN. Amazon is top class.

I have a Wordpress/Woocommerce store with all the plugins (ready for sales) and without CDN scores 60 on Mobile and 94 on Desktop.
Honestly it's not even optimized yet (WPRocket etc.)
Am I missing something here?

Shopify is pretty fast is you ask me! Perhaps you have your images causing the drag ? And you’re a geek haha - I didn’t bother myself about all these when starting out! Just straight to the money approach hehehe

Well I suppose I am geek! lol
I believed Shopify was super fast but in reality is just... ok.
With slow site speeds you lose customers, that's why it bothers me and I don't like that at all.

Shopify is slower than I thought.
Way slower actually!

Hmmm it's not that slow and people are use to having slow pages - they'll prolly think it's their wifi!

I don't like Shopify by means such as I find it very badly designed if you want to do interesting or smart things or go big long term but it is fast loading normally since Shopify servers are strong overall if your site is loading slow probably down to your image being too big or not compressed well or some other kind of image you maybe have for it.

Could be your images/photos, such as the banner(-s), products, etc. Highly suggest you to compress them via (https://tinypng.com/) and then re-upload.

You can get services on fiverr to speed up your site.

They work well.

Shopify badly designed ? WOW! What do you use then ? It's the best ecommerce platform out there, everybody uses it!

Shopify isn't build to get good numbers on google page speed. That's why the low numbers on that one.

Shopify hosting itself is fast, if you found out that your website speed is slower, maybe you have installed so many apps or too many images file which is not compressed yet. Normally several themes on Shopify are optimized for website speed.

You need to check on the GT Metrix which part you have red-flagging which cause your website speed to reduce, so you can know which one you need to fix to increase your website speed.

Turbo is actually super slow. People think it’s good just because it’s expensive, you need to do a lot of customization to actually make it fast.
