Is SEO worth it for a .blogspot blog?

I just made a new blog where I give html and webdev tutorials and I only have .blogspot atm I can't afford a .com I got adsense on it and I was wanting to go full white hat with it, I was wondering if I should do SEO and build backlinks for my blog. or is that useless?

it's really worth of cause just post quality content don't copy and paste rest all is perfect.As many big sites currently started from Blogspot move on ;)
 
My content is 100% oc you can check it maybe let me know what you think, and what I should improve: premiumwebdevtutorials.blogspot.com
 
Beware when building mass links to blogspot, one of my PR4 blogs got removed eventually for "spam"
 
I won't be bulding mass links, I'll try and build em slowly and all whitehat
 
You should really buy your own domain instead of relying on blogspot the major problem is that you will not be the owner of the domain and you can be separated from it any time.
 
I have seen blogposts ranking #1 for peoples names. I would say they are valuable web 2.0 properties for SEO. I had to do rep management on a guys name where a blogspot was #1. was a real bitch to knock out of #1 spot but its now #3. Work in progress.
 
blogspots and wordpress are great for building a mini blognetwork from as long as you keep updating it with quality content and minor link building.
I have blogspots blogs which have a pr from 1-4 which can provide great link juice for any related site you wish to promote.
 
Yup! blogspot is good one website from there you can stat your website and the pages will cached fast.
and you can do all onpage activities except file upload such as robots.txt.
 
not worth it at all, but for you it may be, as i see you dont know much about seo. So start from blogspot and learn your way out )
 
i use blogspot to test out backlinking strategies, so I would recommend that you build another one, test what you will be doing to your original site on that one, and then go ahead with your linking strategy.
 
It depends. if you want to make it authority and then you can buy also a domain name for it then its worth it.

but google is crazy and i dont know why you shouldnt use wordpress instead if you are looking to create an authority site.

for any other reason well... most of the times no.
 
Blogspot is ok for satellite pages. Even for some other uses it should be ok provided you don't send too many links too soon.
 
Blogspot is good option, i will recommend. i will suggest using unique content and create some web 2.0 that's good for your blogger.for fast ranking keep update always helpful.

Very helpful! I like blogspot because you can have a .com but it propagates in all countries , .eu, .de, .ru, it, and so on! cool!
