Yes, now it's hard and requires a lot of money depending on the keyword difficulty. Most money goes on hosting and backlinks for me which you can calculate by averaging the number of links your competitor page has, how many good ones then average how much it will cost to get them. If you're in the right niche it might not cost you a lot at all.

Yes, SEO is hard, but when you keep practicing and working on projects you will get different ideas.

You are right though that we should combine but it's not all about content creation...

You just need to learn it and understand it. If you will learn those metrics after that you will enjoy it. If you have an interest in this field then it is not difficult for you.
