Suppose I want to rank my medium articles higher in search engine rankings. How should I do seo for it? Is it like normal seo or any different?
Is SEO for parasites like medium different from normal SEO?

What I understood about medium is, It's provides every individual to write & share their own content or experiences. And articles you published in the medium will only show if you choose correct tags for your article and also your content is about current trending topics.
You can use medium as community platform where people/author can follow each other so your preferable content will land in your home page.

Yes, you can do SEO to it like regular ones, no issues.
It either shows the quality of the links you provide to money sites or you are just not savvy here.
For parasites you can use lower quality links and then build another tier below and use spammy links.
You should be able to boost parasites for a fraction of the cost of your money site.

I think there is no need to do much SEO for medium articles. If you get more claps and responses, this will take your article to the front page in the SE. Apart from that, more shares may rise the possibility of ranking which should be organic. I know it will take a lot of time, but your effort will give you good results within a short period.

But it must be getting lot of traffic from search engine also. I have seen such parasites ranking high.

Yeah, you are right but getting higher ranking you will see for such sites only if you have informational content.
