Is SEO for online casinos actually worth doing?

Even if a new casino website drops a massive amount of money for linkbuilding/SEO/optimization, etc., with every other casino/affiliate website doing the same thing from years ago, even with longtail keywords, it seem to be impossible to rank nowadays for words that have decent search volume.

*I'm talking about BIG online casinos, with BIG investments and BIG expectations - like targeting small ultra-low search volume keywords wouldn't make even 0,01% of their website traffic.

So what's the question? Is it relevant to do SEO for gambling? Yes, of course.

Will you be able to compete with teams that have dozens/hundreds of employees, hundreds of drop domain sites, and so on? I don't know.

If there weren't a lot of money involved, there wouldn't be such competition.

You can keep it as a part of your strategy but most of them now focus on paid ads. There's money to be made, so don't rely on organic traffic.

It's hard to get organic traffic nowadays thats why big companies go with paid ads for quick results.

Yes, It's worth it, but the casino niche is super competitive. You'll need strong branding, unique content, and big budgets to see results, not just link building.

In this trendy world, people are switched to paid ads to get result.

Yes, SEO for casinos is tough and expensive, but with strong authority links and smart long-tail targeting it can still drive high-value traffic.

It’s worth it, but only if you treat it like a marathon, not a sprint. In the casino niche you’re not buying rankings, you’re buying time + trust signals. The guys at the top have been stacking authority for years so unless you’re ready for heavy investment and patience, SEO alone won’t cut it.

Great question bro, and I get why it looks impossible from the outside. The truth is:

1. Yes, SEO for online casinos is still worth it

Even with heavy competition, the ROI per player is so high that ranking for a handful of brand-intent or mid-volume terms can be profitable. In this niche, a single click can be worth $50–$100. That’s why casinos and affiliates continue investing in SEO.

2. My background

I run iBETSEO Agency, where we focus specifically on iGaming SEO. I’ve been in the trenches ranking casino and sportsbook sites across Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore. I recently shared a case study here on BHW that breaks down how I scaled from an SEO employee to $1,500/month in iGaming affiliates, with some months hitting $5K:

3. The strategy is different for new casinos

Ranking a fresh casino site for global terms like “online casino” or “slots” is nearly impossible. What works is:
  • GEO targeting smaller markets (SEA, LatAm, Nordics)
  • Brand-intent SEO (controlling what shows when people search the casino name)
  • Toplist clustering (“best [casino type] in [country]”
4. Intent over volume

It’s not just about longtail keywords with small search volume. In iGaming, a keyword with 90 searches/month can convert better than a generic 10k search term because those 90 users are ready to deposit.
5. Big budgets require patience

A new casino with a big budget can compete, but it’s a 12–24 month play. You need authority links at scale, a clean brand presence, and continuous content expansion. Many casinos fail because they expect results in 3–6 months.

Of course, it's literally one of the most profitable niches, but good luck ranking without money + experience + time.

It's a long term play, you won't get results overnight.

You'll need a big pocket to compete in this niche by SEO means.

SEO for online casinos can be very profitable long-term, but it’s tough, competitive, and requires strong trust, compliance, and consistent effort.
