you can definitely scale it to 5000 dollars per month or more, I have an example in my head of someone doing this for 3 years and having this kind of results, go for it if you think it is for you, but find an unique way of doing it, it is not oversaturated but not new and completely fresh neither..
i am thinking of giving a try!

Not dead, but it might not be as easy as it sounds. Sure, the set-up should be okay, but to earn with AdSense you need quite a bit of traffic, and that's the hard part IMO.

It’s certainly isn’t hard either, comparing to many other things. It’s certainly easy than affiliate, seo, instagram, Facebook, porn reuploading etc., and 90% of other methods shared on the forum.
i checked some of your threads and i will surely give it a try and buy your plugin after i earn some bucks from it!.

The harder part is monetization. Some networks requires high traffic to start with like media.net.
I have applied with hooliganmedia and they are yet to respond even after 2 weeks. I am assuming they accept those sites who purchases se900se's plugins.

No method is ever dead... What's even a method? If you can find a profitable traffic source, it will work, no matter the "method" i.e. monetization. I bet you can find a bunch of low competition Quiz keywords for SEO. (I know it for a fact actually) - So go get that money.
