Is promoting your video worth it?

So I read a thread on here about a guy that supposedly makes like 500$ a day from uploading videos of dashcam crashes then promoting them via google adwords, I tried this but Im getting around 60 views every dollar I spend, now 1000 views only gets you a dollar so.... Am I missing something here or was the guy just lying ???

yeah it was 2014

Dashcam videos are old and outdated, only the best are still using that method.
Definitely possible if he had a good quality authority account.
