Is Places Scout worth $147?

If you think that $147 is expensive you definitely need to focus on making some money first.

OP: Places Scout paid for itself within about 3 hours of use... it's a tool, and if you have the right job it's a very effective one.

If you just go out and buy a hammer and try to use it for things like scraping paint off of a wall or for stirring soup... yeah, you'll probably think it was a waste of money.

Let me chime in again. I looked into Gscraper back when I posted my original reply (08/09) and at the time Gscaper had still not been updated to reflect G's move to Google+ places, while Places Scout had been updated within days of the change. I have since purchased Places Scout and have to agree with Tangy, it pays for itself almost right away.
 
I had never heard of this software before I ran into this thread.

I watched a couple of the videos. It looks soooo good.

I hear he keeps it constantly updated. So what version is it on now?? I have a deep aversion to version 1.x software.

It's currently on version 2.5.3. Highly recommend it.
 
From what I see it's for serious people willing to take a chance to see if it works. I do know the developer is an awesome guy and a reputable member here on BHW if that says anything. :)
 
he software has its use in finding citations, and the rep management tool is handy. Apart from that it is pretty limited.
 
ok so i bought PlacesScout - its pretty badass. I have it running on a spare PC as a server while im at work. Kicks ass - gets SO much info. Need good proxies tho - so im still trying to find a good one. It seems the proxy goblin gets TONS of proxy but prob 25% of em are bad to use with it (it redirects the google searches) and raises captcha. Overall i like so far.

I was looking at PlacesScout earlier today and was amazed with the numerous of features it offers.
Was surprised that it even have a keyword tool integrated in it.

I was thinking of buying keywordscout/ulitmate niche finder, does that mean that if I get placesscout, i dont even need keywordscout or ultimate niche finder in this case?

It depends on what you are looking to do with the KW tool.

I use UNF and Places Scout for two very different things, and I've never had to use the two together. When I use Places Scout I just use a list of all of the Google Places categories and scrape a city.

Here's a list of what Places Scout uses to generate keywords. It's pretty basic:

I can tell you right now, that this is the best tool I've ever used. However, what I am doing is generating local business leads for all of their business info in order to sell services to them. It's one of the easiest tools to work with in my opinion and has a great UI
 
Any more recent testimonials / reviews on this ... thinking about buying it.
 
Things I like about the program is the reports, things I don't like is it pulls a lot of stupid citations and some that aren't even live its also slow, starts pulling up captcha so you will have to use a service like death by captha or keep entering codes it also freezes frequently but it seams to be ok once you get used to the glitches they do update it often and respond very quick to customer support.
 
I haven't personally experienced Places Scout however, I have Localizer Leads Tool or something like that (not affiliated). Paid $100 I believe, use it every single day. So, any Places scraper is worth the money by a long shot, I'd pay $1,000 for this software. I'm sure Places Scout offers more features than LLT so go for it if you plan on finding prospects through places.

I've used Places scout since it came out and it is one of my top 3 tools, Definitely worth it! :D
 
Places Scout is good, but i find it super slow. It literally takes at least 24+ hours to get some general data.
 
I have Places Scout and I think it is absolutely fantastic. Just got it a couple of weeks ago and it did not cost me a dime. A client had me purchase it through my PayPal account for me to scrape a list of building contractors one state at a time. I am also using it to scrape leads for my organic agriculture and waste treatment products.

For anyone with experience with PS, is the software (IYO) as effective for United Kingdom based ORM companies- when compared to its use for say, the States or CA?
