Is not having kid a good decision?

Didn't want to participate in this conversation but had to say KNOCK ON WOOD

The young eat the old if you let them, Jerry.

I was a big hedonist, enjoyed in my '20s, travelled around the world, having fun, changing girls and didn't think about the kids at all. Then I met my wife, fell in love, thought it would be natural to have kids. I was not crazy about kids, but it seemed logical. We get twins, two boys. I must admitt, unlike the most people, I didn't feel that eternal love at first. I was happy, but it wasn't that unbelivable connection. But...

When my boys started to interact and stop beeing just crying and pooping machines, when they started to look at me and communicate with me, showing their love and emotions...You can't buy that mate. When they start calling you "Dad", when you come back home from work and they run to show you all the love they have, it's incredible. Now they are 7, I love them more than anything in the world.

I have really attractive full time job, travelled in over 50 countries around a world working, met many famous sports players and have really good relations with some of the best players in the world, who are from my country. Really did most of the things I dreamed about when I was a kid. Money, girls, travel, dream job and involvment in big sports moments, connections, everything. I would give everything just for a little piece of life and true love I have with my kids.

I would probably have different answer 10 years ago, but now I think the (normal) people who have kids are the richest people in the world.

I have 2 Kids. My personal think - without kids i don't think there is mean of life.
As i said i have 2 - but i always rude with due to work load and more problems in life. But i know i love them a lot.
As you said - it's just 1 year for your marriage so why are you thinking about kids, Decisions can be change anytime.
Having kids early after marriage also not good according to me. So at least think about them after 5 years. Enjoy your life with your partner because after kids life will be busy. So don't take stress right now, just enjoy the moment of life. But kids also a big part of life.
Hope you understand what i want to say.

Depend on your age now, if you are in early 20s then I would hold this decision until late 20s very early 30s and see what happens.
If you are in your mid to late 30s now then I think you may be ok as if you are thinking this way at this age then it’s better not to have kids.

It all depends on you man. IMO some people should not be allowed to have kids!

Most people are scared of being lonely when they are old. Thats probably the main reason people have kids and start a family.

If i was a president of a country i'll would bring a rule that would prevent people from having kids unless they pass the requirements.

Requirements:
Mentally healthy
Educated about children
Financially stable and prepared ! (e.g house , salary etc.. )

Im honestly tired of seeing poor kids suffering from poverty and parents mental health problems.

I'm from a developing country, i have no kids and i love the freedom, can travel or do anything anytime without any burden or obstacles, you also have to take into consideration what life really is like, there is no guaranteed they won't suffer, whether physical pain or emotional pain it is still pain, why bring people to come suffer to this world, i rather not plus there are too many of us already in this world, 7 billion in counting, countless animals have died or must die a painful death to feed a human. needless suffering and this is my reasoning to keep going with my no kids decision.

Hi again LJ nice seeing you around:)
In my opinion having kid's is a part of life and a new experience worth having because it is something you have never experienced before and if you take life as a whole it is all about experience's think why do you earn money besides for basic needs it is to enjoy better experience's like vacation's across continents, buying new things we do all this to experience new things in life which we assume would make us happier. So if we look at it logically having kids is a new experience which is definitely worth having.
But it all boils down to if you are ready as having kids is a responsible thing and as some others had mentioned usually having kids Is a decision most couple's think on for years and finally decide on so take it easy since your in the 1st year of marriage many more years left:)
Also another way to look at it mate is now imagine all the earning's you made patiently sitting down on your laptop for hours, all that you earned you will eventually have to use it up or save it up but then again for what purpose who will continue to utilize your resources so this is when it kind of makes sense to have kid's and pass it all on to someone from your own blood than to let your hard work be in vain I geuss?

Think well mate and don't rush it your a smart guy so you'll make the right move:)
Best Regards,
NW

sometimes your life will be boring
you will have more money for trips, holidays and fun stuff than all your married friends
you will be lonely sometimes
parents/friends will drive you mad asking why you don't have kids

H
father of 4 ;)

... and be careful... if you don't want to have a kid, somebody else might do that for you.. not joking :/

anyway, all the best!!!

I am really confused whether I should put the Like sign or the Haha sign to your post

it's the best decision if you don't care about what society thinks about you and won't regret it in the future. But I always seen having kids is a bad investment, you do everything and return you get nothing, you spend your whole life and spend money, what you get in return. its best to save money for the future and enjoy, no responsibilities.

I see people having kids and don't have food to eat, I don't know why they have kids if they can't give a good life and good education.

If you took this decision and able to convince your wife, you are awseome brother. Dont listen to world just do what you like.
Looking for returns in everything is not a good idea.

My Problem is, is there any unselfish reason for having a kid?

Bringing another person that asked for nothing to this world, FOR YOUR OWN personal joy?

I personally want to have kids one day but I think we should ask ourselves these kinds of questions.

Im 33 and I dont want kids either, I just value my own time more than a kid.
