Hi guys, I am running a blog in the gaming niche and 3 days ago something really weird happened. All my keywords that I was ranking for are now at position 200+. I didn't even do much backlinking, I had maybe at most 200 backlinks for the whole domain.

Is this something temporary like a Google dance?

I'm not sure I have a definite answer but how old is your site? Are you building high PR backlinks? Is your competition high or low for your keywords? If you're building links that have weight, and your content and on page optimization is better than your competitors, I don't see why not. But your site will never be done ;) Keep building up.
 
You might have got hit with an over-optimization penalty. Make sure you vary your anchor text when building backlinks. Include some "click here", "visit the website", "more info" and other generic anchor texts to make it look more natural.

Good tip, those kinds of words will get picked up organically, so throwing them into the mix is a smart choice.
 
I will try building backlinks with those keywords, see what happens. Thanks!
 
I think that's results of over optimization, Google's Over Optimization Update Named Penguin ,for more information you can search with that term .the main think is identify Over Optimization , check out this mybloggertricks.com/2012/05/how-to-identify-seo-over-optimized-blog.html
 
diversity is the king mate :) diversify ur anchors and link building strategies :):)

Here is the timeline for my visitor count. Was there a Google update released during this time?
 
Fantastic tip, those kinds of conditions will get got normally, so placing them into the mix is a sensible choice.
 
could be a google dance though dont panic leave it for a week and more hopefully it will come back :)
 
If you didn't do a lot of backlinking, then, what did you do? Maybe you did not diversify your keyword. I don't know but this falls down when you tell us what you really did for your website.
 
I would suggest that you add more unique content to your site and keep the keywords density to 2-3 percent only.
Wait for a couple of weeks and then see the results.
 
Sounds to me you just have been *ssfucked by a penguin like the most of us here...

Build some diverse backlinks on a daily base and cross your fingers.

Happened to some 60+ of my sites and pretty much all recovered from the penguin update with aprox. 30% of them with better ranks ;)
 
All the content on my site is 100% original, I spend hours writing 4 articles each day. I have started building link wheels using SeNuke to my site, building 2 each day. One of the link wheels has my main keyword while the other has "Click me" "Click here" etc. My website is still indexed so it may come back. It could also be I was in the reverse sandbox and it wore off... who knows.

I will keep adding content and 2 link wheels per day and see what happens.
 
2to3% keyword density is still high. Keep it as low as possible, get new content and make sure the keywords fit in naturally and doesn't look like its stuffed.
