Hello guys,

I have been out of the loop for the past year or so. I had a niche site that was doing okay and has dropped in rankings for the past 4 months. The drop started in middle of december. The traffic become around 60% of original. It recovered slightly in the end of december to become 75% of original traffic. Over the next month, it gradually dropped to become around 50% of the original traffic and hasnt recovered since.

I am not sure if it's penalized or not. I haven't added new content in the past 4 to 5 months. But, I have been having link building done on the site (Seo pro lab package)and it's not responding.

One of the inner pages that was doing well was ranking 1 and 4 for its keywords. Both keywords have dropped below 5 which have reduced the traffic to that page.

Some of the keywords which were ranking well are still ranking the same while others have dropped below the front page. Overall, the traffic has reduced by over 50%.

What should I do? Should I stop spending money on SEO? as its doesnt seem to be helping. Or should I add new content for a while and see if that helps? or should I consult some SEO expert who can see if the site is penalized

Should I add my site to google webmaster tools and will it say if it has a penalty?

Tell us more about the links and anchor texts you used.

Things change in the SEO world, check if you lost some backlinks and check your anchor text profiles and compare them to those of your competitors.

Well,
It has been mostly regular link building with web 2.0's, infographics, press releases, articles etc. I have had a few editorial links linking to my home page and some innerpages. A few PBN links to one of my innerpages and homepage. I have tried used generic texts and naked urls along with my keywords for anchor text. I am not sure of the exact ratio.

I just checked with google webmaster tools and there doesnt seem to be a manual action.

Are you sure you weren't hacked and behind the scenes there are tons of hacked pages?

How quality is your content ?
Content is excellent quality. Native US writers and articles over 1000 words and some more than that. Monetization through Amazon affiliates.
