My site is about 4 months old but the only way to get it ranked on google for me is to type in boost my seo or to type in the domain name. I can't seem to rank it for any other keywords.

sandbox means google deindexed your site , to find out if thats the case search on google.com for:
    Code:
    site:yourdomain.com
if it returns no results that means that your site is deindexed and sandboxed

Wrong, sandbox means you've been filtered to the back of the line, not de-indexed.

search your keyword and navigate to the very last page of the results. If your site is appearing on the last 10 pages of those results thats usually a good sign of sandboxing. If your on the last 2 then ya your sandboxed for sure.

sandbox means a lot of things to a lot of people.
It currently doesn't have a definitive meaning. Just speculations from everyone. But the term sandbox will always carry the meaning of penalty.
