Now everyone is presenting themselves through online platforms like reels and tiktok and getting rewarded also. Will traditional modelling become extinct because of this?

They call it “whoring” in the streets but basically modeling is commercial perhaps? Back then when IG converted from landscape/nature/food to personal the term “IG Model” has born
now everyone is willing to compete for millions of women online true but think about it differently
social media CAN land you into a professional modeling career but it’s different
professional modeling is presenting designer cloths, brands etc.
Different criteria I assume (I don’t have actual modeling knowledge but just by logic..)
In order to get into an agency and make certain connections there’s certain criteria after you’re landing a successful booking session and build your portfolio (learn how to pose and other factors as well. Sometimes measurements included)
on social media you compete for attention among hundreds of millions
on professional modeling you’re most likely compete with people with certain criteria and can improve/enhance your performance and land major bags and massive deals
I guess not
still, it’s pretty smart to do so, taking “social media influencers” and using them as models for a certain brand for example (“sponsorships”)
but I believe not. Prada doesn’t care about you eating popcorn in your pajamas getting millions of views
They would likely give you a shot if you’re backed with a professional background, certain requirements and characteristics though probably

Modeling is a profession, which is taught in modeling schools and managed by agencies.
Just because someone looks presentable on social media, it doesn't mean that he/she will make it as a real-life model. Social media is just a tool for possible talents to present their portfolio, which in certain scenarios can replace the traditional audition.
If a random person gets approached by a brand on social media to promote a product (by wearing it), you can't call that person a model. He/she is just a social influencer at that point. In these days fashion models are influencers too obviously, but not every influencer is a model. If you understand this difference, your thread starter dilemma shouldn't be a dilemma anymore.
When a person walk shows for fashion houses, when this person is in their lookbooks or on their websites/online stores, that's when that person is a model by profession.
Just because someone is getting approached on social media by Forever 21 with an offer to wear this cute floral dress in exchange for a couple bucks, that won't make that person a model by profession, regardless that many of those put that into their Instagram bio.
Social media is an addition to the ways how talents can be discovered. Just because of this, modeling as a profession won't become extinct. It only means that the pool of possible talents became a lot bigger and more visible than before.

I 100% agree with you. So in other words I also don't think that the professional model profession will disappear. I only think that they will get less money than before because some brands will use influencers for some promotions.

As long as there are ads and rich people who buy whores, modeling will be around a long time. Nowadays its called escorting.
