You have been given some good advice already, all i have to add is........dont give up, if you get frustrated take a step away for a few days and come back with a clear mind. Keep focused on your goals but dont try to achieve them in super quick time

Don't forget about proper keywords research.

For blogger you can use cheap services from Marketplace with good reviews - I usually go with those which give you less but better quality links.

Blogger is a good choice to start with. I suggest you do basic SEO, keyword Research on the niche you wanted to write about. Then create good, original articles. It helps: however, I used to have my busty girls blog there and one day blogger took down my blog. Now I have my own domain. The problem with blogger is that they do not let you run many adult ads. This is from my experience and other adult bloggers
 
I wouldn't say worth it, if you go for a platform that you can fully control and pay for, then it would be worth your time.
 
Blogger is a great platform to work and make money.
Several factors help in valuing the position of the blog such as search rankings as per relevant keywords,traffic trends, content on the blogs etc.
 
Yes it's a good way to get traffic but it don't happend overnight, don't expect anything with a spammy blog, you have to be contant, add unique and quality content regulary and your blog will bring traffic and money.
 
With good to great content ( not spun ) but well written I have blogs that make $300 - $400 a month. No sorry will not show URL's. I build them targeted for search terms that people are going to be looking for on a on going basis. Not just during one season. Evergreen content is what you need. And it needs to be updated on a regular basis. With on topic content.
 
I was using blogger for one of my client site, Site was on drugstore which was having some banned products by google after some months blogger have deleted my blog.

Tough to stand on blogger with this site.
