Is LinkedIn worth it for a highschool kid?

I had a run in with linkedin a couple years ago and all I could think of is what a waste of time it was. It certainly deterred me from joining but I've been hitting nearly every social network pretty hard and I figured linkedin is my next venture. I'm building up a brand at the moment, but I also plan on using it for personal.

Is it worth it for me? I'm pretty well versed in IM but I got the vibe as its more of a professional work environment, which I'm not really about.

Comon guys, no input? I'd really appreciate some expert advice.

If you are building a Brand, then yes IMO you should at least have a profile there.
You will only find out if it is worth it for your venture if you spend some time there and put in the effort to learn the ins and outs of that platform.

Couldn't hurt. It would be more impressive if you build a personal website with a branded url and use it to contact employers.
