I know it used to work years ago, but can stuffing keywords still boost rankings or will it kill the site instantly?

I don't myself do keyword stuffing, but I do know that like all black hat methods, successfully doing it in 2025 depends on modifying how it is done compared to 2005, and doing it short term or in cycles. The commenters who robotically assert that "Google will detect it, and penalize you, yada yada" do not properly qualify the remarks to say "G will eventually detect it," or to note cases where the algorithm may not detect it. One example of the latter is "frontloading," where the stuffing of the keywords is hidden in places the algo doesn't read, but the keywords are picked up for ranking (like video files, where kw is in the video file name, the video title and video description).
People who are deep into Google code may know of other subtle ways to sidestep detection, that they are probably keeping to themselves. I know of no recent online case study that verifies how fast Google can actually detect it and de-rank the page, which is the real issue. But that means the "oooh, G will catch you" side doesn't really have verified proof of what the deal is either, other than citing Google's pronouncements. Again, the best approach is to work any BH tactic only on a short term basis, and tweak it for the current setting.

No keyword stuffing isn't a good thing nowadays. Instead you can implement related keywords or semantic keywords. Search engine has become so much smart to flag keyword stuffing.

Like you said it used to work once upon a time but now its not working. Though you might get a different results from other search engine like bing and yandex etc.

In 2025, keyword stuffing is a bad idea because recent Google updates focus heavily on content quality and search intent. Repeating keywords unnaturally no longer works and can harm your rankings.
