Hi, i'm wondering if the kw rank in Google search console is valid.

How to read the data?

gsc.jpg

I already filtered the search by country, by device, by date.

After that i tried to search the specific kw using incognito browser. The problem is not all the rank is accurate.

Some kw showed up and some kw didnt show up even i go through until page 10, while the kw is rank 10 or 20 in GSC.

How to use this data?

only 3 impressions for a keyword in a 1.3 avg position means the keyword doesn't have enough search volume

799 impressions but 0 clicks for a keyword ranking in the 4th spot means that the keyword ranks and gets views but doesn't get clicked on by people, which means that the people don't like / don't find the meta title relevant to their query, so you need to re-write the meta title of that page to make it relevant to the query so that people can click on it

keywords 3,4,5,6 and 7 have too few impressions for keywords ranking in top 10, which means that they're low volume keywords, and there's nothing you can do about it... at least I can't think of anything at the moment...

That's how you read this data, it's pretty straightforward :)

incognito doesn't show you the real spot where your keywords rank. You need to use a VPN or, even better, a keywords / rankings tracker (serprobot, scrapebox, etc)

GSC shows the average position over the period of time that the report covers, it doesn't show you the real, up-to-date position

This is absolutely spot on. I could not have answered it any better. I definitely recommend a keyword rank tracker if you want to know where you actually rank. GSC is helpful for understanding click through rates and Google analytics is good for bounce rate and page time. Personally I get a LOT more from Jetpack's free page views utility when I start a new site. When it is up and running I delete Jetpack and use keyword rank tracking tools and things like Ahrefs/Semrush to see what I am ranking for (that I did not target!).

GSC for me is all about seeing where I have issues, and fixing them pronto.
