In the age of Penguin is there any significant effect on search results, by having links with the anchor texts with target keywords? Looking for expert answer.

Backlinks with an anchor that includes your keyword still matter a lot, yes, but not as much as they did back in the day.

I find that naked and branded anchors work a lot better for me. It just looks a lot more natural.

Yes, I guess overdoing this will surely get you in little risk, but I think at least 5% of your backlinks should have the keyword anchor text in it. Because this also helps google to exactly identify for which keyword you want to rank.

This is my personal experience. You can also consider other members' answers as well.

Yes it still matters, if you keyword is the anchor that carries your backlink... Keyword research is still a effective SEO practice

It does matter a lot. But don't overdo it. I always make sure to keep it below 5%. And also, before I post the main keyword, I make sure I have plenty of natural anchors in my website profile first.
